Here's some recent email commentary we received that we thought you might find interesting.
From Guest Editor EKG:
I’m sure GWB is counting the hours until he can return to Crawford, Texas. He did his duty by us. We were not attacked again during his watch. (How many Americans remember American embassies etc were attacked every 18 months during Bill Clinton’s administration, beginning with the first WTC bombing (1993), going on to Khobar Towers, two African Embassies and the Cole. All were acts of war, but Mr. Clinton, old hippie that he is, believed soundly in “what if they gave a war and nobody came?” and didn’t show up.
... being as our financial mess is affecting the rest of the globe, has it been reported “over there” that the Republicans in Congress and GWB tried to rein in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac two years ago, but were prevented by the Democrats? Most Americans aren’t aware of that— another example of the media keeping silent those pesky little facts that don’t fit their agenda. As I said, (they currently specialize in) propaganda.
From Guest Editor S. B. :
I’m just waiting to see if George Bush leaves office with the same line Davy Crockett used to his constituents after failing of re-election (after having opposed Andrew Jackson on the question of the Indian removals to Oklahoma. Jackson was a vindictive Scots-Irish s.o.b.)
Davy said, “You all can go to hell, I’m going to Texas.”
