Red Light Cameras Should Be Banned in Missouri
The following article with accompanying videos were published today by blogger Bob McCarty. The videos illustrate how a city in Arizona is using a traffic camera system. A lawsuit, apparently on appeal, alleges significant corruption connected with their use. The lawsuit is being pursued by a long-time Federal Agent who was charged, through an allegedly inappropriate use of these cameras, with violations he apparently did not commit. We have advocated for some time that the use of Red Light Cameras in Missouri should be banned. You can write your Congressman to request it if you agree with us.
We have advocated in this column and elsewhere that the use of these cameras violates the Constitution, encourages political corruption and is simply another money making activity that has the potential of corrupting politicians and encourages profiteering by those who sell the cameras and manage the systems.

A 30-year law enforcement veteran, Neville Cramer was convicted of a serious crime in Scottsdale, Ariz., despite being able to produce evidence proving his innocence. He blames corruption on the part of city officials in Scottsdale, Ariz., working in concert with executives at American Traffic Solutions, one of the nation's largest red-light camera companies.
