GLOBAL WARMING HAS SUDDENLY BECOME "CLIMATE CHANGE"

Neil Craig notes: "Regarding climate change: Have you noticed that all the environmental movement has gone from using the phrase 'global warming' to using the phrase "climate change"?

One is a statically verifiable phenomenon and the other is a nebulous phrase that can be applied to any possible weather circumstances: Hurricane and tornados ('climate change'), drought (must be climate change), warm winters (must be climate change), cold winters (has to be that nasty climate change thing), etc etc.... As I understand it, both sides of the global warming debate agree that the average global temperature had increased from long term averages about 1 degree.

The debate centers first on whether not the metric of an average global temp (averaging all the temperatures from spots all over the globe) is really a meaningful statistic. I've heard one expert say that the averaging global temperatures is about as meaningful as averaging all the phone numbers in the phone book.

Secondly, everybody disagrees on whether or not this increase (if it really is an increase) is due to human activity or sunspots or normal cyclic fluctuations or whatever, and whether or not humans can influence or reverse the trend.... The most interesting thing is that the increase in the global temp average since 2002 (has been) without the help of the Kyoto protocols or any other radical green legislation. And at the same time green lobbies start talking about climate change instead of global warming.

Could it be that global warming is turning out to be big false scare, and the greens want to keep themselves in the forefront of the public attention. Blaming all weather everywhere on 'climate change' is a little too convenient, and it is of course assumed that any 'climate change' is automatically the result of human industrial activity...

Since most greens are actually red underneath (Marxists who want to see free market capitalism destroyed), blaming the weather on human industrial activity is a very easy strategy to try to justify government takeover of huge chunks of the economy.... The phrase climate change is just a symptom of this near-conspiracy."

Today, Iran builds nuclear weapons systems, N. Korea already has a nuclear weapon, and fear that Saddam Hussein had WMD entrapped the U.S. into a long and very expensive war. Meanwhile, the current media and politicians continue to desire peace at almost any price and threaten "isolation" (to oil rich countries like Iran), as a sanction for pursuing atomic (energy) weapons systems.

The U.S. waits to see when and if the belligerent country actually obtains a nuclear weapon and delivery system before contemplating military action to destroy the belligerent's nuclear capability, and allows the belligerents to form weapons supply cartels to further their nuclear missile projects.

If the enemy even agrees to talk to us we consider it a diplomatic victory. G.W. Bush implied after 9/11 any country harboring terrorists would face military reprisal from the U.S, yet Iran supplies terrorists regularly and blatantly, as well as Syria. The standard of proof that a country supports terrorist organizations is "beyond any doubt", and any military reprisal short of that is shortly (and loudly) declared war mongering by representatives of our own Republic. (That is after the heat is off.)

I suppose this is modern diplomacy, but where will it lead us?

...Iran announced on April 8 that it had begun installing 6,000 new centrifuges at its uranium enrichment plant in Natanz. ...

THE REAL GLOBAL WARMING EXPERTS ARE BEING IGNORED

(The following commentary was written as a response to a link to testimony in Congress made in 2001 on the subject of global warming.... We thank Regular Contributor M.D, of St Charles County, Missouri for the link.)

THE GLOBAL WARMING HOAX
We wholeheartedly agree with Dr Lindzen's testimony (see link below). However we see at least two problems. They are not related to the truth of his presentation before Congress because we believe he is accurately stating the facts but instead the problem he and many others have in getting the truth across is the manner in which they present the case.

Two major problems we refer to are:
1. Dr Lindzen’s testimony is 7 years old.

2. The terminology of his truthful testimony on the issue is presented in a way that no ordinary citizen is likely to read it or understand it. This particular testimony has obviously made no headway with many politicians because Al Gore and his gang of believers have been winning the public perception ever since this prestigious testimony was given!

CLARIFICATION OF OUR VIEW:
Politicians, and that includes the current bunch running for office, are only interested in the perceptions, correct or incorrect, of those who vote and only then to the extent that it impacts an upcoming election. Ignoring the truth and supporting damaging policy is certainly not new to those in and seeking positions of power. One need go no further than the Federal Reserve, its money printing policies, Congress, their "bailout" proposals and their unwillingness to end the "earmark" scandals, among many other things, to see that clearly.

The proponents of the global warming hoax have done a masterful job in promoting the scam and have run a PR campaign that has thoroughly routed those relative few who understand that global warming is a hoax. That is the main and current problem.

With people like Gore running around collecting the Nobel Prize and making suckers out of a gullible public, as well as many qualified and unqualified climate scientists, and generating millions for their own pockets and that of elected officials, hardly anyone is going to disagree with the hogwash these global warming scam artists are selling. The upshot of it all is that whoever gets elected as President will be pushing a huge cost onto the American Taxpayer while at the same time punishing U.S. Industry and killing job formation. We are likely to get stuck with paying for a lot of phony and fictitious “science” because influential politicians and their gaggle of “hangers-on” are eagerly joining the bandwagon in order to pocket campaign and consultant money from people like Gore.

Unfortunately, all three Presidential candidates are espousing a "belief" in global warming and, as I have pointed out, it's because it has become a myth believed in by the general population. As for us, all we can do is continue to work at translating and publishing REAL scientific facts into a view that will find acceptance by the general public. The odds are pretty good, though, that Gore and his global warming cronies will continue making huge amounts of money on this because on this issue the advantage does not lie with the truth, it lies with the money!

Here’s an interesting video clip made by a Brit. Maybe you will agree with us that much of what he has to say is akin to the “liberal platform” that might be elected right here in the good old U.S. of A!

Perhaps the electorate is on such a “guilt trip” that we will go nuts about certain things like our national security and our cultural history. Who knows, the time may have arrived when we will just listen to the illiterate, trust funded, college educated and brainwashed “rock star” crowd and throw it all out the window just to see what happens!

Al Gore says global warming is a planetary emergency. It is difficult to see how this can be so when record low temperatures are being set all over the world. In 2007, hundreds of people died, not from global warming, but from cold weather hazards.

Since the mid-19th century, the mean global temperature has increased by 0.7 degrees Celsius. This slight warming is not unusual, and lies well within the range of natural variation. Carbon dioxide continues to build in the atmosphere, but the mean planetary temperature hasn't increased significantly for nearly nine years. Antarctica is getting colder. Neither the intensity nor the frequency of hurricanes has increased. The 2007 season was the third-quietest since 1966. In 2006 not a single hurricane made landfall in the U.S.

South America this year experienced one of its coldest winters in decades. In Buenos Aires, snow fell for the first time since the year 1918. Dozens of homeless people died from exposure. In Peru, 200 people died from the cold and thousands more became infected with respiratory diseases. Crops failed, livestock perished, and the Peruvian government declared a state of emergency.

Unexpected bitter cold swept the entire Southern Hemisphere in 2007. Johannesburg, South Africa, had the first significant snowfall in 26 years. Australia experienced the coldest June ever. In northeastern Australia, the city of Townsville underwent the longest period of continuously cold weather since 1941. In New Zealand, the weather turned so cold that ... Siwei's comments sent the euro to a new record high of $1.4703, gold futures up $20 to as high as $848, and oil futures as high as $98.6. At the same conference, Xu Jian, a central bank vice director, said the dollar is losing its exclusive status. "The world's currency structure has changed; the dollar is losing its status as the world currency," Xu said....
